University of Wisconsin–Madison
Genesis Liriano is a third-year student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, Genesis developed an interest in social justice and education. She has explored this by taking courses in areas such as global health, history, and educational policy.
Genesis holds multiple active positions on campus that focus on diversity and empowering student voices. As a student leader, you may see her in her role of dean’s ambassador for the College of Letters and Science or planning events with the Latin Heritage Month Planning Committee. She is the Director of Internal Programming for UW–Madison’s NPHC chapter as a proud representative of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and the external president of ReWear-It, a sustainability organization that promotes new life cycles for clothing and teaches mending techniques.
While in undergrad, she has pursued research opportunities in both education and urban planning. She hopes to pursue a career that allows her to help preserve culture and further develop communities.
